شعر هايي از children of bodom
In the silence of darkness, among the shadows of the dead we hear And a wolf howling hungry to wake up children of the graves (Unripe vengeance!) The cult that serves as revenge Has put forward its fangs to declare a fucking war (war) Only calmless spirits of corpses are passing by The altars of Bodom where everything but death is a lie (death is a lie) To spill your blood to become our wine We'll reborn reality where only the wild will survive (wild survived)
(Kill!)
The clash of wickedness veils lake Bodom blood red We have gathered our souls to praise the triumph of death
Children Of Bodom, angry are rising Running amok slaying with a sense of desire From the twilight of the past, (among) the victims who died Something wild has survived
Only calmless spirits (of corpses) are passing by The altars of Bodom where everything but death is a lie To spill your blood to become our wine (We'll reborn reality where only the) wild will survive
(This is something dark, I find your fears We have gathered our dark souls to embrace the righteous pull of death You'll obey the dark You'll become one of us Taitors)
Children Of Bodom, angry are rising Running amok slaying with a sense of desire From the twilight of the past, (among) the victims who died Something wild has survived

Children Of Bodom
Children Of Bodom are a Finnish death metal band with an instantly recognisable sound (thanks largely to the liberal use of keyboards in their music) and will soon be undertaking their first Australian tour.
"I think that we were originally supposed to come to Australia two years ago, the last time we played in Japan," says vocalist and guitarist Alexi Laiho, "but there was something else that we had to do back then. I don't remember what it was; I think we had to go back to Europe to do a festival or something like that. This time around, though, we're actually going to start a whole world tour from Australia. We're totally psyched about coming!"
While the band haven't come here before, it turns out that they've already played in Japan four times. According to Laiho, playing there is a very different experience from that of performing in, say, Europe or the States. "Everything's so well-organised in Japan that it's amazing; there're never any problems with anything; everything's just too good," he states.
"As a country too, it's just amazing. People are so polite there that it's just crazy; I can't help but love the Japanese people. As for the fans, they're insane! They really treat you like you're a fucking god! They have that whole worshipping thing going on, but they're still really polite as well; they're not crazy in the same way that people are in, say, South America, where they sort of violently worship you; they rip your clothes off and do crazy stuff like that!"
The new album will be the follow-up to the group's 2003 offering, 'Hate Crew Deathroll' and should be out very soon, according to Laiho. As for how it will sound, it will be a fairly different beast from its predecessor.
"We didn't want to do a 'Hate Crew Deathroll Part 2' kind of thing," Laiho tells me. "Sometimes bands that have had a really successful album try to do that album again, which is always a mistake; you can't do the same thing twice. I think our new album is maybe more straightforward. There are a lot of elements that aren't really fresh, but you'll still know that it's us. We're really satisfied with it as far as the music, production and everything else goes; there's nothing really for us to bitch about right now. The response from the media has been pretty damn good so far, so I'm just hoping that the fans will like it too."
On the subject of 'Hate Crew Deathroll', one song from that which really stuck in my mind was Bodom Beach Terror, whose title seemed to suggest that the whole thing was a rather cheesy horror song. Laughing, Laiho confirms that that was exactly the intent.
"That was the whole thing," he says. "It was supposed to sound like this B-grade horror movie thing, so it's not 100% serious. I think it's funny to come up with song titles like that sometimes. I guess it's just to show the whole black humour side of the band. Of course, we are a serious band, but we don't take everything too seriously."
Talk of horror leads to the subject of Bodom Lake, the source of the "Bodom" in the band's rather curious title and the site of a triple murder back in 1960.
"Bodom Lake's near a town called Espoo, which is like a suburb of Helsinki, and the place where we grew up," Laiho informs me. "The murders there were just this story that everybody knew, and that we always heard when we were kids."
On another matter related to his home country, Laiho says that the metal scene there is in quite a healthy state right now. "I think that of all the European countries at the moment, the metal scene in Finland is one of the best, definitely," he enthuses. "I don't know if they're big in Australia, but bands like Nightwish are just massive over here."
Of course, the Scandinavian scene as a whole has also been doing well. "There're bands like In Flames, Arch Enemy, Soilwork and Dimmu Borgir, which we've all toured with; we're old friends with all of them," he says. "I don't really know why, but it seems that in a lot of places, especially America, the popularity of Scandinavian extreme music has grown a lot within the last three years or so. I don't really know the reason for it - why now? - but I'd guess that, in America at least, it's because a lot of metal people have just gotten tired of that whole nu-metal thing. A lot of so-called metal bands were doing nothing more than just rap with distorted guitars, and I think that people eventually just wanted to have the real shit going on."
